Why we give
There is a story about a Puritan sitting down to dinner one evening. His meal consisted of water and bread. He was heard to say, “All this? And Jesus too?”
God has blessed each of us with more than we deserve. We give here at First Church, not because we have too, but because we love God. Giving for us, is first and foremost an act of love.
“But since you excel in everything — in faith, in speech, in knowledge, in complete earnestness and in the love we have kindled in you — see that you also excel in this grace of giving.” 2 Corinthians 8.7
